I scored this Theory slipdress (that I had been coveting all year) on sale during the Thanksgiving week sales and was eager to wear it. But, alas, the temperatures plummeted here (and I need to get the straps shortened #shortgirlproblems #nipslipdanger). So, I started considering my options to make it both a work appropriate option (we had a holiday party at the University to attend) and suitable for cold temps.
I mulled over the idea of tossing a bodysuit on under it, and while I love the looks, it just didn't fit the vibe I was feeling for the holiday party. I tried a plain long-sleeved white tee bodysuit and a white mesh one with a puffed shoulder and ruffle collar detail. I really did like both options and will wear the dress with each in the future. But for this event and date night to follow I wanted a more playful look.
Last week, I introduced you to Sézane and I received my sweater from them just in time to be able to pair it with my slipdress (I'm wearing a medium, for reference; also, they have several colors available). The results were perfect. I felt feminine and so pretty (shout out to Nichole @Buzz for the princess worthy hair she did that morning after my color!). The sweater helped keep the dress a bit more casual (it was a late afternoon party) and allowed me to safely enjoy my evening without worrying that things were slipping into dangerous territory since I didn't have time to get the straps altered.
After the holiday party broke up we hit up some of our favorite spots to close out the evening. I find it impossible to eat enough food to count as a meal while socializing at parties. So, we grabbed a few tapas and then transitioned into a night cap. It was a wonderful date night that was much needed given the stress of finals and grading that we are in right now. Also, while I despise the cold temperatures I adore all of the holiday lights everywhere. It certainly upped my festive mood.
