I've been struggling this last week with the big Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (#NSale) that coincides with me actually being in the city and near a Nordstrom (sale ends Aug. 6th). Those of you, like me, who don't actually live near a Nordstrom can check out the sale online (they have free returns which is key when online shopping is your go-to). I didn't want to leave out the men on this one, so I've included my first men's selection in the post! This is something I'm considering trying to incorporate more often. Guys- Do you have male fashion bloggers you follow?
I came up against another blogger-wall-of-reality with this sale. Many of the bloggers I follow (and some others relayed to me by friends) were taking home upwards of hundreds to thousands of dollars of clothes for their blog posts on the sale. #notmyreality Perhaps some of them are sponsored, but certainly not all of them. Spending that much money on one shopping trip (or even in a whole year) just isn't what happens in my world.
I'm currently on a clothes shopping hiatus, so this sale is every temptation I don't need right now. (I don't know if I'm allowed to say that as a fashion blogger, but its the truth.)
All of that being said, I did meet a friend at the #NSale. I left the store with a single item- this grey pinstripe blazer #willpowerforthewin. I was willing to ignore my no-shopping rule for this piece because I was well aware that this is something that has been missing from my wardrobe. I always look at blazers but have a very hard time finding ones that fit my short but broader frame. I will need to get the sleeves tailored for length (there is almost no way possible that this wouldn't be the case for me) but it fit really well in the shoulders and chest and the construction seems pretty good, as well. I tossed it on over a t-shirt with my jeans, mules, and my new Rebecca Minkoff bag.
If you are new to the #NSale here are a few pieces of wisdom.
1) Shoppers with the Nordstrom credit card get early access, and boy do they use it. Several of my wish list items were sold out before I even had access to them at the sale price.
2) Nordstrom does a pretty good job of restocking some items after they sell out, so keep your eyes peeled.
3) As early shoppers return items you might be able to snag something you wanted that was temporarily out of stock in your size.
With all of these things in mind, I go in to the early access sale and create a wish list of the items in the sizes I am interested in to make watching these pieces much more manageable once I do have access to the sale prices.
Here are some women's and men's items that caught my eye (thinking about fall & winter seasons ahead of us). I've put together a few items so you can see how you might style an outfit. (click on item descriptions to link out to each piece)
Keep in mind, the sale is a bit picked over at this point, but that doesn't mean you can't still find something great to add to your closet. Did you hit up the sale and score any great pieces? Tell me what you got and love! Should I expand my men's coverage?
